Why is it so important for a visionary to be more rigorous and apply such a system to move forward?  I point to the well known 80/20 rule of thumb, also known as the Pareto Principle.  The rule was established by 19th-century Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto, who noted that 20% of the population owned 80% of the property in Italy.

Over time, Pareto’s discovery has been shown by others to apply to other areas, such as:

• 80% of a company’s business can be traced to 20% of its clients.
• 80 percent of complaints come from 20 percent of customers.
• 20 percent of investors provide 80 percent of funding.
• 20 percent of employees use 80 percent of all sick days.
• 20 percent of a blog's posts generate 80 percent of its traffic.

I have successfully applied this rule with my visionary clients' productivity and have found that in most cases 20% of their efforts create 80% of their success in forwarding their vision. That also means that 80% of their efforts are not having the level of the impact they are desiring. • Resist critical feedback that can help encourage greater adoption of their vision because they can feel no one can understand the nuances of their view.
